Message From The Founder

I decided to start the American Intercon Journalism Club after I noticed that many students need the skills in writing that is indispensable throughout their academic lives.

I wanted to form a club that would help students learn how to write properly, understand different writing genres and especially encourage them to just start writing.

I hoped that the club would arm students with information they would need to create a good piece of written work and equip them with necessary skills if they would choose to pursue a career in the news media.

I wanted to do this by organizing training, workshops and seminars and bring in professionals from the local media to speak to the club.

Initially, I decided to try announcing a writing project to a handful of students from the General English Program and Advanced English Program at the American Intercon Institute. After meeting those energetic and young individuals, it all turned out to be the American Intercon Journalism Club.

I started the club on July 21, 2012 with the help of 10 founding members. On July 21, 2012 club members elected its first officers, including president and vice president. They started recruiting more students to fill in several positions within the club.

I encourage everyone to consider becoming an officer in the club. You will learn more about writing, meet other students, learn how to run an organization and have plenty of fun along the way.

Please feel free to contact the club anytime through e-mail or phone call if you have any questions, want to get involved or have suggestions. If you are interested in subscribing to the club’s newsletter, be sure to sign up for the mailing list.

I would like to thank the American Intercon Institute and School for all the support toward the club in the process.

Sincerely,

Vitin Seng
