Saving The Pandas

By KEV PHIM

The giant pandas live in a few mountain ranges in central China. Based on a record, most of the pandas survive in Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu provinces. Conservation centers and zoos around the world are working to ensure that pandas survive at whatever the cost. Why is panda so special? With its black-and-white coloring, cuddly shape, and sad-looking face, the giant panda is a precious animal to people. Aside from their cuteness, pandas are extremely rare.

The low birth rate is really a main reason. When a cub was born, we have to take care of the cub carefully. If we are a bit careless, it would die at any time. Taking care of a panda isn’t easy. It needs the best doctor, keeper and a variety of toys to play with. This level of care costs million dollars every year. The loss of bamboo forest where they live and eat is also a big problem. The natural disasters affect the panda’s home and life. This is one of the big problems that pandas face.

To restore the dwindling number of pandas, we have to restore their homes and their food. Planting more bamboo forest would be a big plus. The care services are also important. Mother pandas that have just given birth to the cubs need much care. The cute black-and-white pandas will soon become extinct if we don’t start taking care of them well.
